Aiming to Become a Company that is Needed by People and Society.

Alarm bells for the future pose to us a wide variety of challenging questions. No matter the challenge, no matter the era, we aim to be a company that is needed by people and society.
We continue to support and encourage activities that lead to a world where sustainable frameworks heal and create a better environment for people and nature.

Message from the Representative

Our ideal vision and perspective towards society is to become a company that is appreciated and always needed by the people and society – to be kind to people and considerate of the society, as we strive to create sustainable frameworks and always provide solutions for problems that arise in any time and age.

In order to achieve and maintain our vision of being “a company that continues to be needed by the people and society”, Kaneko Cord focuses its efforts on contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals through its endeavors in the medical field, various safety projects, and effort for environmental preservation using sustainable technology.
Additionally, using the natural environment and a framework that respects nature, we launched our land aquaculture business in 2013 and as the first step towards our wish to create a safe and secure food business, we began farming sturgeons and the production of caviar.

Our vision is not only focused on producing delicious sturgeon and caviar, but includes continuous research to find ways to better improve and implement sustainable methods through the use of our farm. For example, we plan to collaborate with the City of Hamamatsu and a waste incineration plant to use the waste hot water produced by the plant to create a warm water fish farm. We will focus our efforts into building a futuristic land aquafarm facility using molten slag, and the nutrients from fish manure waste and feed leftover will be used to grow agricultural products (aquaponics).
We believe our mission is to protect our “mother sea” from resource depletion caused by environmental pollution, overfishing, climate change and microplastics, and will continue to exert our efforts as a leader in the development of a sustainable aquaculture industry.

Not only do we focus on the aquaculture business. We also extend our interest into various other directions, and support people and corporations that strive to develop sustainable technologies in other fields.

We have decided to welcome Dr. Michael Nobel, who has been a friend, and interested in Kaneko Cord’s involvement with SDG activities for a while, as Kaneko Cord’s advisor. Dr. Michael Nobel is the great grandchild of Alfred Nobel, the founder of the Nobel Foundation (Michael is the former President of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Association, Chairman of the Nobel Sustainability Trust, and former Chairman of the Nobel Family Association). With Michael on board, we will be able to create various projects to lead the new era as we continue to exert our efforts to create a better environment and world that will benefit the future of mankind.

Corporate Philosophy

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent; it is the one most adaptable to change.” — excerpt from Charles Darwin’s theory of biological evolution.

The same can be said for companies as well. Companies that fail to adapt to the constantly changing rapid world will be left behind and will not “survive”. With the world changing in such a short period of time, Japanese companies are at a point of unprecedented change where a leap in “evolution” is required. In these times, we need to constantly evolve and continue to grow to keep up with the growing global markets in order to stay a “valuable brand”.

Kaneko Cord’s values are founded on creativity and a frontier spirit; It is the ability to think out of the box and create something new and remarkable; It is the ability to give shape to the customer’s desires and wishes; This is supported by our technical abilities that have been refined over many years. Another value that we treasure is the many wonderful partners we have met over the years. Kaneko Cord has a history of over 85 years in Japan and a history of more than 25 years overseas. Kaneko Cord is what it is today only because of the support it received from its suppliers and many customers around the world.
We believe that people are the ones that create a company, and by nurturing and growing the people in the company, quality and services will also improve, and this will eventually lead to an improvement of the company as a whole. Therefore, we hope to be a company where each employee is able to communicate sincerity and trust, and knows how to touch the hearts of our customers. And to show our gratitude, we hope to repay our customers by instilling inspiration.
